Snow Removal rules per city of Buffalo :
Fines from the city range from $50 to $150 for not removing snow from your sidewalk and one walkway leading to an entrance door for emergency personnel
Sidewalks and a walkway to your house are to be cleared within 24 hours of previous snowfall. Fines up to one per day can follow after the 24 hour grace period. The path can be 2 feet wide or the width of a standard shovel. Rocksalt, metal shovel or ice pick may be required for more challenging / frozen snow and ice. Besides Lowe’s and Home Depot there is a value home center on the corner of Englewood and Kenmore Avenue for purchasing salt, shovels etc.
Driveways are not required to be shoveled by law.
Tip: snow is much easier to shovel when it is fresh. You may also want to clear a spot on the grass near the curb for the number of Totes you usually put to the curb.
During freezing temperatures make sure all windows and doors are completely closed including basement windows to avoid freezing/exploding pipes.

Garbage rules per City of Buffalo
Garbage pick up is on Thursday mornings as early as 7 AM.
Garbage totes may be put out as early as 5 PM on Wednesdays and must be brought back to the backyard by Thursdays at 8 PM.
The city has a lot of rules for garbage and can fine you for not following them. Fines start at $55. The most common fines are for not following the rules below.
Totes cannot be stored in front of the house or a fine is possible and likely.
Totes can be stored on the side of the house as long as it’s not within 10 feet of the front of the house. (Not including the porch)
Totes cannot be heavier than 125 pounds When filled. If the tote is really hard to move then you’re probably over the 125 pounds. They will not take totes if they are too heavy.
The lids of the totes must close or they don’t have to empty your tote.
Do not put garbage in the green totes - only recyclables.
You can put recyclables in blue totes. There is no fine if you do so. There’s only a fine if you put non recyclables in the recyclable green totes.
You could be fined $50.00 to $150.00 for putting out tires, televisions, electronics, or hazardous waste like oil, gasoline or paint.
Fines range from $50-$150 for having loose garbage, cardboard or other rubbish on the ground.
If you need to dispose of a large item such as a couch you may put one such item out on garbage night. However, if it rains and it’s soaked with water, they do not have to take it - as it is too heavy. If this happens, you’ll have to bring the item to the backyard by Thursday night and hope you don’t get a fine for having rubbish on the ground.
